As a dancer and former athlete, Monica finds the body is a tool of communication, one that transcends words. Her love of movement was equalled by her love of literature leading her to major in Literature and Dance in college. Post college and years working in higher education she found herself teaching high school English, sharing her love for literacy with urban youth. But the loss of her father found her looking for something different. She found this in the yoga studio and in the practice of yoga as a way to calm her body and her mind. With yoga she was able to access power in actions and in stillness. This enabled her to find new ways to bring her truth alive and to share it with others.
